Half-term training (burbage)

Much to write about, not sure how much il include.
Firstly il acount the camping trip to Burbage me, Tom, Dewi, Matt and Will went on, this was the second time we've done this. Me and Tom arived in the woods at about 11 and started collecting fire wood quickly and putting other sections to our ilamatic base which we were both extremely happy to see was fully intact. About half an hour later Dewi turned up and got stuck in helping out cutting up wood and building our miniture village.

After chilling out for a little bit eating a nutrigrain bar and having some water me and Dewi sharperned our spears and went for a quick hunt to the get the blood pumping, we spotted two sheep and pincer attacked round them, moving silently using the side step technique developed through parkour. Once we got to close they did the usal animal instict and stuck there heads up from the grass and just glared at us comfused, we decided to like wolfs and pick just one to go for, Dewi darted at it causing it to run in the opposit direction finding me i smacked at its side with my bo staff type weapon i was holding it swung round and charged at Dewi and had a bit of a scuff with him head butting him in the leg i quickly got to the scence and cracked it right in the ass with my bo staff then it just bombed it off into the woods were we intercepted it for about minute were we just ended up letting it run into the distance. Il just quickly elaberate, we dont try and kill the sheep we hunt (asif we even could) there to fast and its more just the thrill of the chase and team work of sneaking up in pincer type movements, also there so hardy from years of evolution the sheep in the peaks they can take being smacked by a few sticks without really feeling to much of it.

We headed back to camp and continued building up the base and collecting fire wood, we snuck down by the river avoiding being seen by an expedition of 12 of 15 people walking by the river which seperates the two parts of the woods. We sat down and relaxed enjoying each others compony and keeping a look out for Matt and Will who were getting to the woods for 1 oclock but didnt come with us the last time so had no idea were we camp, and probably wouldnt even be able to spot our camoflaged den even if theyd searched, after about ten minutes or so chilling by the stream we caught sight of them and went and met up and showed them to the camp.
We all got our gear and weapons together after two hours of all meeting up together and went out hunting. I cant really be bothered to go into the entire thing, but we hunted and played about the woods for hours going into secitons i didnt even know existed when i thought i had the whole place sussed out. It started to get very dark as we trecked through the woods back to camp, i really felt a sense of brotherhood (nothing in comparison as i do for my traceur friends) all moving through the woods together, regardless of how loud they all clomper stomped through.

We got to camp and had hour Tea and realised it was only half past five which shocked us all as it was about pitch black, we got the fire roaring to cook our food on and hung around talking and collecting fire wood till about nine when Me, Tom, Matt and Will went on a night mission to the high rocks of burbage. About half way there Will and Matt said i think we should go back to check on Dewi and ended up leaving us and not having the incredible experience, me thinks they got scared.

Once we finally reached the masive rocks faces we sat and absorbed our surroundings, just imagining the veiw since you could barley see and thing, full moons arent as bright as youd expect. We moved down to the bottom and i suprised Tom saying lets find a good bit to climb
i had a nice warm up getting used to the rocks climbing a fairly simple problem going up about 20 feet, then worked my way back down to find Tom again i got a really hard problem which was probably a silly thing to do because it nakered my arms out for the next climb i did and mite of nearly died. It was overhanging and you had to dyno all the way up for 15 feet which was made harder having to be so precise in the dark after getting half way up there was a nice little crack down the rock making it nice and easy to climb to the top for another 15 feet.

Yet another problem...this one was alot more based on technique and picking the right holds, this was a problem as i could barely see so i just had to mainly rely on strength, 10 feet up i could barely move my arms and below me darkness and jagged rocks on a hill. i managed to struggle my way up SLOWLY with my arms alomost unable to move they were so tired.

Tom then finally came into action and had his go at this climb, Toms got alot of upperbody strength, the same type of build as livewire and funnily enough, he's ridiculously good at handstands. Tom got up quite nicely as he was at full strength, we did a few more climbs with eachother for the rest of the night and headed back to camp were we met up with the others, we went on a couple more night missions just moving around the woods, went back to camp had some more beans followed by custard then slept like a baby.

Stealth God

Im very bored, i fancy writing up some stuff.
After feeling abit depressed lately, like i dont have the guts i used to, for example i had level arm jumps back in easter and now i dont. But after looking back at old footage back from easter also, i noticed my abilitys are so much more full circle its just my arm jumps are dragging me down every time i spot a level arm jump, its only level arm jumps though i guess my standard ones are feeling prity good at the moment and far better then they ever have.

Thursday Stef came out training since his thumbs out of its cast and were back at school its easy to arange just going out at night, we also got our mate Joss to come out training whos come out twice before and is showing real promise he actually reminds me alot of Blane the way he moves and his build, i just question his dedication is all if he will actually start training parkour and come out often.

I was quite happy with this session, i hadnt gone out properly for like a week and a couple of days as i mashed up my heel abit at the art gallerys.
This was a very nice session, i did alot of responsible teaching, making Stefan and Joss do lots of repitition and very basic fundamentals, i did some nice speedy wall scales, quite big precisions on these stumps in a play park, a noticeable difference that my lil standing jump its getting bigger. I came to a level roof gap that i turned down over a month ago, about 13 steps onto a sort of platform with just enough room to stop and not go off of the edge (this is sounding worse than it is, mite make a video of the footage iv gathered lately with this gap included) it took me about ten or fifteen minutes to get the guts to do it, i think this is quite and acheivement for me as you all know, im apauling with anything height related.

Friday i did a little barefoot training for like an hour or so just up the road, i had a good fun relaxed session in my shorts, landing 360 cats easy and unique creative movements that just came naturally, fast climb ups, i just felt so instinctive all my hard work of night training, barefoot traing and peak district stuff seemed to have payed off. I did some shoulder and bicep based conditioning that night aswell.

Saturday i was ment to be going to notingham but i did wank in my science exam so that went out of that window. It was about three and i realised i was doing nothing so i just stuck my joggers on and went up to notredame and did nice relaxed neat movements, eyed up an arm jump which iv had as a challenge for a little bit now, but left it as i wasnt warmed up properly yet. I heard someone coming round the corner, it was a guy with a leaf blower (you get kicked off instantally when you get seen on the site) i grabbed my stuff and dropped to the floor and didnt get spotted, i moved round the corner of the other part of the school with little to train, but i thought to myself there is always something to do in any enviroment and continued training untill i heard a leaf blower again, i moved round silently (made harder by having to hold a water bottle) checking round walls and noticed there was two of them i remembered Liam had mentioned him and McGuire were coming to tapton today so i set my self the challenge to not get spotted by eather of the guys with leaf blowers so i waited to the one by the gate to start making a raket with his leaf blower again and bombed it round a cornet, scaled over wall and got out unseen, very nice feeling.

While i was in this mood i thought id try and sneak up on Luke and Liam i had a bit of trouble with this as taptons been locked up prity tight now so it was hard to get into silently and over all the broken glass, i heard them talking and trecked round a building then inside of it, got onto the roof after looking out of the window waiting for Luke to turn round got up to the roof sneaked around till i was as close as i could get then just sprinted up on them and met two other guys they were with, trained round tapton for like half an hour untill Liams friend Brandon was to ill to stick around any longer, we trained around notredame a little on the way back were i looked at that big arm jump, i think i mite of been able to do it, but Liams friend was looking really ill at this stage so we set off again.

Ohhh and just thought id mention, on quite a thick peice of wood like part of a shellter i managed to muscle up fairly easy when last time i couldnt even at full strength and this time id been training two days before and done loads of pull ups the night before.

Barefoot night training. Stronger-Smarter.

I just had such a random training session, after my dad didnt wake me up to go out bouldering with him and my brother it ment i wasnt going to do any training today which kinda bummed me out.

But it got to about eight, and i had nothing to do so i thought id nip down to the boulder five minutes from me, just grabbed two bannas a bottle of water, my camera and no shoes. I trained doing a bunch of dyno's/plyometrics and problems and realised how much stronger i am since i trained on it with Scott, Tee, Alistair and Jamie.

After this i wondered up to the Salvation army at 9 and by this point i was just in my baggy shorts and trained some basics on a wall at the Salvation army like pop vaults, lazys with the outside leg, kind of speed dash's (to big to dash to speed vault it and finish in a dash)

Then started training interesting new movements thinking of Brad Moss's videos, then some quick wall scaling (not small enough to pop vault but not to big to have to really sprint at) trying not to scare off a cat that was looking at me from the top of a wall, but it boomed off the second i i jogged up to the wall. I got home, i managed to grab abit of footage while i was out the funky night mode, but i cant upload it to the computer untill wednesday till i get the firewire cable.

Shortly after ariving home i did 10 pylo pressups, 10 regular, 10 wide apart and 10 close grip. followed by 10 pull ups, 10 wide grip and 10 close grip then 50 grams in my protein shake, a bannana and a pear.

Short Lisses write up.

Godddd were to begin...Lisses was mad, must have got in a good 50 hours of training in while i was there. I learnt so much its unreal, i met up with a bunch of awsome polish guys who have been training 3 or so years, theyv done snickers adverts and run workshops over there.
A good 10 things they helped me do that i would have turned down without there advice and support, they were all great guys, sooo funny with absulutly mad abilitys.

I met up with Stuart, Sean, Brownie and Ant who were all really cool guys.
I was perticulaly impressed with Stuart, i didnt actually realise how good he was untill i trained with him in Lisses, he's just such a good all round traceur, id say he's really inspired me but thats a bit of a cliche now saying someone inspires you, i learnt alot from just watching him train he's really given me alot of ideas of ways to train and has helped to "inspire" me to train harder...

Im so glad i got back into the habit of just being able to do well, jumps. For about a month my legs seemed to just freeze up if i was trying a big jump (anything with a slight element of height) and id just wuss out, but now if got the right state of mind back that i can tap into so all is good.

"Lets do it"

After a night of pissing about at Stefans while his parents are away, got myself up at 10 so i could revise at home. Finished all that off, got ready to head back up to my mates with Yamakasi which had come in the post that morning! happy!

Got there and gave him a hand with the washing up after i felt bad for bailing on him so early in the morning and not helping tidy up. Watched the fim, watched some pk vids on youtube.

We started talking about when we should get out training, especially since i havent been able to with my ankle. I looked out of the window, we both noticed it wasnt pissing it down like the weather had said. We checked the sheffield weather, its said it was crap, then 24 hour forecast and it said it wasnt going to rain for the rest of the day, we both looked at each other
"should we?" "emm yeh..." "lets do it".

We got back to mine sharpish so i could grab my trousers and shoes, very very little drizzle on the way to mine and to the bus stop, after about a 15 minute wait at the bus stop, as i guessed i was asked for full fair, didnt really bother me since i was sooo happy and eager to be out training.

Got off the the bus, stopped at a little spot just before getting to the library (a place iv wanted to check out for a while now, iv only been there once training and that was after my first week or so of being into parkour) did some small precisions, flow and a warm up kind of catpass onto a step which i was quite happy to do easily on my first try.

Finallyy heading up to the library, a minute walk from the little place we were warming up on.
I did some kongs and just general basics, found the precision id looked at the first time id been here and turned it down without a doubt, this time looked at it for ten seconds and did it with ease, i worked on some stuff that Stef was struggling with, a precision down to a wall, not very big but with a little bit off a drop, i understand exactly why he was scared since it mirrors on the kind of stuff im scared of now but just on a larger scale. He left it for abit while we trained a little more in the area, i did a catpass to wall i was quite happy with, not very big, but with a bit of a drop in between the take off and landing, something iv not yet done before from a catpass.

I drilled that about 5 times and then connected the precison i mentioned earlyer on to it, making quite a nice bit of flow and movment, after that Stef staired at the precision he wanted to do and soon did it and he realised the thing we all learn after many jumps, that was easy.

We trecked upto Silverdale school which was wank, we scaled over the fence, and wandered around the area finding didly squat, the only bit of potential rooftop activity i found there was a small roof gap that had a wire in the way of were you would be jumping and water on the landing.

We soon left the school and headed up to our own school, High Storrs.
This place is the BOMB to train at, so much stuff there great walls to scale, rails precisons, lachi's, imense rootops to explore, all sorts of vaults you can practice, realllly nice place.
I felt something great while i was wandering around the roofs, i looked into my class rooms and felt so much freedom, the place that normally imprison's me, was proving a to be great fun for me to train my way of life.

We both moved over to the other side of school, bein able to use parkour to get ourselfs there :P
Did some precisions, practiced rolls, mucked about up a tree, And the final thing we came to was a set of walls i sped up it happily and wandered round the roofs on this side of the school while Stefan spoke on the phone, i came back round and practiced turn vault techniques on something thats flat (hard to explain) going down into a kind of press up position, spining your body round so your hanging, tucking your knees in then dropping, stef got up the wall on his 4th or 5th try which he did using his elbow for the climb up, i got him to get back down and try again even though he was prity exagusted as was I, he managed to do it with a nice climb up, a turn vault with the technique id just used.

We headed home both happy with our selfs, i was actually quite proud of what Stefan had acheived today and what i had. I had loaddds of noodles when i got back and a couple of spring rolls, along with a protein shake and another glass of milk after that, chilled out for abit, went to bed and got 14 hours sleep, brilliant.

All today i was bloody revising, at the end of it all, i watched the yamakasi documentary and decided id go on a walk and check out some spots i want to go to when its not wet through, stuck a coat on and put my head phones in went out for about 15 minutes just checking a spot out and that was about it really a nice relaxing way to spend my sunday i guess, and thats about it for this update.

cheers.

A new perspective.

Leeds jam yesterday sure was an interesting one...
when i got up in the morning i wasnt thinking about parkour, or going to leeds in perticular.
It was more just routine, knowing what i was doing without thinking about it.

I got to leeds with no problems, did the usall things i do to warm up at the Art Gallerys, quick climb ups, vaults, just the basics really.

The others got here, pete first, were i did the precision to the windowsill with ease, something i couldnt do for a while at my first 5 jams or so, next was scott were we just spoke abit then Tee Pee, Liam, Guy, Brad, pedro. I mucked about abit repeating stuff id done at previous jams around the art gallerys, then i came to the thing iv wanted to do for a while when i was properly warmed up and been training towards, the precision to the red rail. I stood there for a good ten/fifteen minutes, with abit of a crowd gathered.

Untill we all got moved on by security (i swear it said parking attendant on his jacket) im not sure if i would have done that rail precision even if we hadnt been moved, all the same this didnt stop it from pissing me off though getting shifted. I find that since id been a fighter for so long, i treat jumps like fighting, so it feels iv lost when i leave a jump or fail at something.

Any way we moved to the church were i started to build up the rail precision distance going up one step at a time, got to second from top when we got moved on yet again.

When we got to the police station i was feeling crap, i wasnt in the mood, a complete off day, through out the day we moved to spots i felt awfull, but the day did progress a little bit and the odd thing i did cheered me up a little, the amouries were great actually, we had a great game of tig, the first one in ages, i did the tic tac arm jump there and scaled the wall in the main section of the amouries, things iv already done in the past, but this time i did them easyer and with ALOT better technique.

We moved round to the other side of the armouries after guy and brad had a big endever weather to get a juggling ball out of the river or not.

I scaled a big wall on the other side of the armouries after a few go's, and as a was walking down the stairs chuffed with my self, did something that just makes me angry thinking about it, noobish and terrible human error, completly lost me footing going down the stairs and twisted my ankle really wrecking it, masive swelling.

Scott led me back to the train station since i didnt know the quickest way there, which wouldnt be great for my ankle, said my goodbyes and hobbled to the train station and got home just fine.

All today iv been reflecting on everything, watching yamakasi videos, just thinking about how good i want to get, it was odd after yesterday i felt my fire was kind of going out, but today i conditioned a whole lot and im dying to get out feeling great.

For the next two weeks im just gonna condition like a mother bitch and slowly work back into parkour training, it really does feel like a new begining like my lifes been refreshed and im looking forward to the future.

Alex.

"just jump"

Went to wakefeild and horbury wednesday which were both great, but also yet again highlighted my fear of standing jumps at height, at the start of the day in wakey i did a bigish precision, more of another learning cerb really, finding howmuch extra distance you can get when the object you jump to is slightly lower than the one you take off from, horbury i was happy with a catpass precision i did, about 7 steps, to be honest though i felt/feel i can get alot further with them, the catpass im aiming towards is the big one at the odeon in sheffield iv never actually had a look at exept for in videos, so im putting into acount it will be alot bigger when i come to it, as is usal with most things.

we went to a few other spots throughout the day in horbury, my favourite place was definitally "the tree" a fallen over a tree which seemed as though it was put there for parkour, which had alsorts of parts to it you could use different techniques on.

Wakefeild was ace, fulll of cool spots, not much to talk about though really apart from what i said at the beginning, it highlighted my fear of standing jumps at height.

Just a quick review of my thoughts lately on how i get over certain jumps, arm jumps with not much height or rail precisions a voice in my head says "just jump, it will be fine there's no real way you can hurt yourself" or with things like catpasses it what comes into my head is "i can make it i know physically i can make it, so why not just do it".

I hope to get out for some good training at tapton tomorrow since i everythings abit much at the mo and i need to relax and let off some steam, and i have some fears to get over while im there to. : )

Jump at stanidge, just a tad happy with the way this photo turned out.

Update in training.

Yes yet again iv been lazy and not updated since my trip to brid ages ago.

Iv done allsorts since, first things that spring to mind are Cambridge, a Jam in leeds, Brimham getting over rail precisions, started working on things i used to dislike, catpass's and Precisions with drops.

The trip to cambridge was Me and Tee Pee were we trained hard and got to alot of spots, not necessarily acomplished much but it was a good fun day were we managed to make a video out of the experience.

My last leeds jam i improved my alot catpass's and noticed that i was alot more comfident with my arm jumps.

Brimham was incredible up on the rocks, i learned and acoplished alot i feel, but it also highlighted how bad my comfidence with precisons at height or with a drop are, but iv started trying to improve them lately.

My sheffield Jam yesterday was good fun were Scott, Liam and Ben came down for the day,
my arm jumps felt great yesterday which was also a reason to start training different techniques, i was suprised at the way spk trained actually, because id been to little jams in the past with them and not enjoyed them or learnt much, alot of them didnt seem to train all that hard or seriously, there were brilliant guys there though like the two Dannys, polish Greg and in perticullay Will, i learnt quite abit off Ben yesterday to be honest, teaching me some catpass techniques after scott had given me a hand with them and alsorts of other things.
At the very end of the day, something really ridiculous that gave me stupid amounts of trouble was this standing jump up to like a shed roof or something im not quite certain, but god this really was giving me trouble, but after a great deal of comfidence building from scott i managed to do it and was happy i hadnt just left it, there was alot more to that though than just another jump it was a big learning kerb for me and a boost in all round comfidence.

il update abit more frequently now, im going to the steel city this tue for a gym day and wakefeild then horbury and probably up to some rocks some time this holiday

Cheers.

Bridlington

Brid was bloody funny, acomplished alot and got alot of good training in.

I woke up at 6 a.m had my wheaterbix, a shower, stuck my pk gear on, and got to the train station, i caught the train up to leeds were i met up with Liam, Guy and Tee Pee.
Had a prity hillarious trip down to Brid on the train, though Tee Pee isnt physically able to sit down for more than two minutes, all those sugary drinks...
well we got to Brid and i was prity damn exited actually, almost as much as the first time i went to a leeds jam.

We started off muckin about on a plain of grass with and electrical box perfect for climb ups and a tree right next to it aswell while we waited for Ben (a cool traceur from Brid who took us around the town). I did some nice climb ups and tree work while waiting for Ben aswell as working on my rolls which are starting to improve now.

Ben got there after about half an hour which was actually perfect amount of time to get warmed up and focused before we headed off.

first spot we hit was by a river with nice precision's and some good tree's with one perfectly made for an underbar. Guy cleared the river with me following after, we trecked up the other side abit finding a dusty place filled with mozys, the place probably had potential but i really wasnt up for getting bitten to peice's and breathing in aspestos.

We moved round back to the side were Liam, Ben and Tee Pee were and i worked on turn vaults then drops and some precisions.

Me and Guy decided to clear the river again discovering there really wasnt anything on the other side so we were looking at a short way back, Guy spotted one, it had a prity poor run up goin down hill but it seemed doable, Guy cleared it no problem trecked up the hill and joined Liam ect, my turn...
i counted myself in ran jumped, cleared it fine landed on the same spot as guy, but...
slowly tilted back and thought "shit", droping in quite a shallow river drenching my trousers, as hilarious as it was my trousers were soakkked making them damn heavy and impossible to land precisions.

So me, Guy and Tee Pee trecked up the road finding an RSPCA charity shop XD. were i found the scumys, cheapest, chavyest trackys money can buy (one pound) honestly there like regects from the libirachi house of crap, there like netto bags stuck together then painted blue.
Never mind i wasnt in my own city nothing to be imbaressed about, and these ones are waterproof :P

We walked back up the road to meet liam and that again, stopping to try some things, arm jumps, really small standing roof gap.

So we trecked around the town going to a bunch of amazing spots, they were actually some of the best spots for parkour iv ever been to. We got to nice plain of grass for Guy, Liam n Tee Pee to practice tricking off a nice slope, were i landed on my face twice from fronts because im smooth.

Then just as were heading off because Tee Pee was moaning he wanted chips, i spotted an amazing looking arm jump over a flight of stairs, i bottled out about 4 times, and on the 5th i did it but quite scetchy, then i did it again with a camera there and got my technique a bit better and dinoed strait for the top bar (there was three bars i arm jumped to the lowest)
I did it one final time to get a second camera angle were i got the landing and techinque alot better, so i left that feeling happy with myself.

The rest of the day we just went to around different spots doing technical stuff.
At the end of the day we just crashed out on a beach and practiced flips, and i tryed my first ever backtuck XD
i plan to learn them properly on the gym day tuesday.

We caught the train by the skin of out teeth because Tee Pee and Guy stopped at every shop on the way to the station, as well as guy telling the chip shop women he loves here, but she broke his heart...

caught the train home, had a great day, thanks again Ben for taking us round.

Cheers.

Wales

Wales was incredible, i have never felt so close to nature and spirituely aware.
Firstly just had the three hour drive down there which wasnt to bad but il skip that out of the story becouse its not very interetesting...
we pitched up the tent quite quickly once we were on the site in Llemberis, i was eager to get some pk training in so i quickly had a go around the woods by the side of the camp site before setting off to the rocks and boulders, i did some lachi's, underbars/underbranches? and some body drops as well as some general just climbing around the tree's.

We soon set off after id had a little hours session in the woods, i got comfortable with my suroundings to start with by just trecking around the rocks, i also soon realised how much i had to concentrate on my landings since there is no smooth surfaces like there are in the citys.
Arm jumps were also quite interesting as i had to check then double check the small holds my hands would be grabbing onto. Its hard to explain how it is doin parkour on the rocks, everything is so compact so your constentally moving and seeing new oportunitys, the ground there is actually quite weird, its exactally like a gym floor its so compact and springy, which was good for working on my rolls as i rarley actually work on them.

So we finished off and i was shattered and went to the legendary Petes eats to have a meal.
Afterwards i couldnt resist, though full of food, going and checking out the spots around the village. i found an ok spot were i just "wowed" some of the locals with a front of a highish platform, a diving kong and flag.

DAY TWO.

Early that morning we walked seven miles to the top of snowdon in a prity fast time stood around at the sumit for ten minutes or so looked at the cool veiw then started trecking in down the seven miles back down, we got about one mile down when i noticed one of the most beautiful sites of my life and no i wasnt looking in the mirror... "Lin Ardui" (black lake) me and my dad decided we had to go down there since it was completely empty and just looked amazing.

My parkour came in quite handy actually getting down the masive rocky hill using standing jumps and quick footwork moving my way down. I got there and it was perfect silence not a person to be seen apart from my dad climbing halfway down, completly cut off from the rest of the world it seemed, the lake was in the middle of a valley half covered by the shadow of the mountain, i sat by the side of the lake with my feet in the water reflecting on life and my journey into parkour so far.

cutting a long story short we adventured back to the tent stopping at Petes along the way grabbing some food.

I got to about one in the morning and i couldnt sleep at all so i used going to the toilet as an excuse to go for walk, i was walking up a hill when i just saw a sheep dog apear from the shadows, it started just pracing around me abit and then just sat infront of me so i stroked it for a bit then headed off but the dog decided to come with me so i let it, i went into the woods id gone in the first day, climbed some trees being carefull of that minor inconvenience of pitch black.

i continued just walking around thinking to myself with the dog by my side which i wouldnt be able to see without the small amount of white of on its coat.

it got to about 3 when i decided it was time to make a move back to the tent i said my goodbye's to the dog once i got to the tent were it went back up to the farmers house and layed under a jeep.

DAY THREE

saw the dog a little bit in the morning, packed up, went home.

Great trip.

Monday 19 March 2007

Okkkkk were to get started, its been a very long time since iv posted shearly because of the fact im so lazy.

RIGHT alot has happened since my last post, i feel twice as good as i was back then, i have a much deeper veiws of parkour now and it really does own my life now.
I stopped Thai Boxing about 3 weeks ago now to concentrate souly on my Free Running since Boxing really just wasnt making me happy and isnt what i want to be in life.

Since my last post iv met Owen from Team Traceur when i spent the day in leeds with him, Scott, Dewi, Gwesyn and Louis. I practice about 5 times a week now and do lots of conditioning before bed each night, i do quite alot of aspects of parkour now like Tree parkour, Solid parkour like just having a continues run, Training individuel techniques.
Im working on a new video at the moment which i should have on within the next month and now iv realised im never making a "team" video again just becouse its so frustrating having people in the video not come out and get footage so you have far to much of yourself and little of them.

Easters also coming up when i think me and liam plan to go to brid, and i plan to get to leeds quite a few times.

In a very rushed version, thats everything thats been going on with me and parkour in the past few months.

Cheers.

Saturday 27 January 2007

Great 15 minute run

To start with i was really pissed off i was sent to take back a movie to blockbuster i hadnt even watched or rented out, but then i realised wait a sec iv bin cooped up in the house for a week and not been able to do parkour for about two weeks.

So i started off running down the road at prity fast pace (bit faster than a jog) decided to take a detour threw the salvation army were i did some decent volts and arm jumps, got out of there and was running up the road were i found my self at frog walk a thin alleyway with absolutely tons of stuff to do, but just my luck 7 students out of there heads walking about one mile an hour infront of me so i quickly got up about a 10 foot wall running across not being noticed in the shadows i was only noticed when i was at the bottom when i jumped for a lampost off the wall spinning down like a firemen, i got to the end of the alley way were theres the obvious route of a path leading out into the street and theres a wall by the side of a big river cutting out and entire road saving about a minute or so, i get over that wall with ease nothing much but the odd underbar for 5 minutes untill im at blockbuster.

I drop off the DVD and notice how great it looks on top of pizza hut roof, i sprint across that roof, hang down on the end and drop then start heading back were i find theres a locked cemetary with a securaty guard, i quietly avoid the guard and get up onto the first ledge of about a 12 foot wall bring my foot up on that then reach for the ledge of the roof then pull myself up neatly, run across that roof and do that cat style movment across a thin tall wall on the side of the cemetary i look behind myself, the guard still hasnt noticed me moving threw the shadows i hang down off the wall and think to myself "shit" i didnt realize this wall i was moving across was as big as it was i could see practically nothing on the ground of were i was going to drop all i knew was that it was quite a soft landing of the odd patch of grass and soil i decided il drop anyway the worst that can happen is theres a few nettles down there, nope nothing atall a soft landing and i carried on with my run i got back to frog walk id been at previously i got up that wall again and did and arm jump to the other side of the alleyway ran across that jumped to a lampost and im back in the main roads again i run back down the road take another little detour threw the salvation army and did the move id been dying to do while iv been in my house going insane not being able to do parkour, a lazy vault to arm jump, did it first time and didnt have to stop by the wall and think how i was going to do it, i quickly sprint threw two houses front gardens and im home with no one to talk about it with because my familys decided to go out to the pub while i was out,
great run though.

Cheers.

Training and tapton

Jesus Christ i cant remember the last time i pushed myself as hard as i did today at Thai Boxing i was close to collapsing today but i have noticed howmuch Parkour has been rubbing off onto my thai boxing my thighs and calfs are alot stronger from standing jumps and landings which my trainer seemed notice, unfortuanatally im not going to be getting as much parkour into my life in the next few week's as i have been recntally, because im in training for a fight in leeds on the 15th of february but i am goin free running up at tapton flats and a bunch of other places this saturday tho with Dewi and Gwesyn, Liam and i think Sean and Dex too who are comin down from leeds but im not goin to be able to go to steel city sessions on fridays till after iv fought which is a bit of a bugger to be honest becouse im starting to get the gist of flips now but ill be doin heavy sparing down at the gym instead.

Its not a masive jump it just makes a good picture i think with the river and buildings i the background and if you think about i supose it shows how parkour flows like water

How i got into parkour and my first chapter of my journey

Hey im Alex im prity new to Parkour (bout three months) but put loads of effort in to try n get close to the level of some people in leeds, i started off up the road muckin about on my own doin volts over big walls and getting up and over obstacles then at the start of year 10 i became best mates with Dewi, found out he was interested in parkour so me him and his brother Gwesyn went up to these abandoned flats i new about from wen i skated and i wouldnt even do a metre roof gap to start with but after 15 minutes i did it lol nd since that day iv been freeing my mind more and more and am now finding 4 metre roof gaps small and im hoping to do a 6 metre one but need to go on a bank holiday wen my school is closed up with no teachers about.

So i supose im at an advantage having those flats there giving me a better spirital understanding of parkour getting over things in your mind.
I descovered about the steel city gym sessions threw the northern parkour website. went along with Dewi and Gwesyn and met Scott Mcquade who gave me loads of help and advice down there and told me about the wypk web site i got his addy threw that then spoke on msn got the details about the jams in leeds and decided to catch a train up there to meet up with him and its all gone from there really and im now in LX Lost Xistance with Liam, Dex, Sean, Dewi and Gwesyn (i took Dewi and Gwesyn to leeds for the first time on sat) i now feel im twice as good as when i went to my first jam in leeds. cheers to every1 who's been giving me help.

Alex.
