"Lets do it"

After a night of pissing about at Stefans while his parents are away, got myself up at 10 so i could revise at home. Finished all that off, got ready to head back up to my mates with Yamakasi which had come in the post that morning! happy!

Got there and gave him a hand with the washing up after i felt bad for bailing on him so early in the morning and not helping tidy up. Watched the fim, watched some pk vids on youtube.

We started talking about when we should get out training, especially since i havent been able to with my ankle. I looked out of the window, we both noticed it wasnt pissing it down like the weather had said. We checked the sheffield weather, its said it was crap, then 24 hour forecast and it said it wasnt going to rain for the rest of the day, we both looked at each other
"should we?" "emm yeh..." "lets do it".

We got back to mine sharpish so i could grab my trousers and shoes, very very little drizzle on the way to mine and to the bus stop, after about a 15 minute wait at the bus stop, as i guessed i was asked for full fair, didnt really bother me since i was sooo happy and eager to be out training.

Got off the the bus, stopped at a little spot just before getting to the library (a place iv wanted to check out for a while now, iv only been there once training and that was after my first week or so of being into parkour) did some small precisions, flow and a warm up kind of catpass onto a step which i was quite happy to do easily on my first try.

Finallyy heading up to the library, a minute walk from the little place we were warming up on.
I did some kongs and just general basics, found the precision id looked at the first time id been here and turned it down without a doubt, this time looked at it for ten seconds and did it with ease, i worked on some stuff that Stef was struggling with, a precision down to a wall, not very big but with a little bit off a drop, i understand exactly why he was scared since it mirrors on the kind of stuff im scared of now but just on a larger scale. He left it for abit while we trained a little more in the area, i did a catpass to wall i was quite happy with, not very big, but with a bit of a drop in between the take off and landing, something iv not yet done before from a catpass.

I drilled that about 5 times and then connected the precison i mentioned earlyer on to it, making quite a nice bit of flow and movment, after that Stef staired at the precision he wanted to do and soon did it and he realised the thing we all learn after many jumps, that was easy.

We trecked upto Silverdale school which was wank, we scaled over the fence, and wandered around the area finding didly squat, the only bit of potential rooftop activity i found there was a small roof gap that had a wire in the way of were you would be jumping and water on the landing.

We soon left the school and headed up to our own school, High Storrs.
This place is the BOMB to train at, so much stuff there great walls to scale, rails precisons, lachi's, imense rootops to explore, all sorts of vaults you can practice, realllly nice place.
I felt something great while i was wandering around the roofs, i looked into my class rooms and felt so much freedom, the place that normally imprison's me, was proving a to be great fun for me to train my way of life.

We both moved over to the other side of school, bein able to use parkour to get ourselfs there :P
Did some precisions, practiced rolls, mucked about up a tree, And the final thing we came to was a set of walls i sped up it happily and wandered round the roofs on this side of the school while Stefan spoke on the phone, i came back round and practiced turn vault techniques on something thats flat (hard to explain) going down into a kind of press up position, spining your body round so your hanging, tucking your knees in then dropping, stef got up the wall on his 4th or 5th try which he did using his elbow for the climb up, i got him to get back down and try again even though he was prity exagusted as was I, he managed to do it with a nice climb up, a turn vault with the technique id just used.

We headed home both happy with our selfs, i was actually quite proud of what Stefan had acheived today and what i had. I had loaddds of noodles when i got back and a couple of spring rolls, along with a protein shake and another glass of milk after that, chilled out for abit, went to bed and got 14 hours sleep, brilliant.

All today i was bloody revising, at the end of it all, i watched the yamakasi documentary and decided id go on a walk and check out some spots i want to go to when its not wet through, stuck a coat on and put my head phones in went out for about 15 minutes just checking a spot out and that was about it really a nice relaxing way to spend my sunday i guess, and thats about it for this update.

cheers.

A new perspective.

Leeds jam yesterday sure was an interesting one...
when i got up in the morning i wasnt thinking about parkour, or going to leeds in perticular.
It was more just routine, knowing what i was doing without thinking about it.

I got to leeds with no problems, did the usall things i do to warm up at the Art Gallerys, quick climb ups, vaults, just the basics really.

The others got here, pete first, were i did the precision to the windowsill with ease, something i couldnt do for a while at my first 5 jams or so, next was scott were we just spoke abit then Tee Pee, Liam, Guy, Brad, pedro. I mucked about abit repeating stuff id done at previous jams around the art gallerys, then i came to the thing iv wanted to do for a while when i was properly warmed up and been training towards, the precision to the red rail. I stood there for a good ten/fifteen minutes, with abit of a crowd gathered.

Untill we all got moved on by security (i swear it said parking attendant on his jacket) im not sure if i would have done that rail precision even if we hadnt been moved, all the same this didnt stop it from pissing me off though getting shifted. I find that since id been a fighter for so long, i treat jumps like fighting, so it feels iv lost when i leave a jump or fail at something.

Any way we moved to the church were i started to build up the rail precision distance going up one step at a time, got to second from top when we got moved on yet again.

When we got to the police station i was feeling crap, i wasnt in the mood, a complete off day, through out the day we moved to spots i felt awfull, but the day did progress a little bit and the odd thing i did cheered me up a little, the amouries were great actually, we had a great game of tig, the first one in ages, i did the tic tac arm jump there and scaled the wall in the main section of the amouries, things iv already done in the past, but this time i did them easyer and with ALOT better technique.

We moved round to the other side of the armouries after guy and brad had a big endever weather to get a juggling ball out of the river or not.

I scaled a big wall on the other side of the armouries after a few go's, and as a was walking down the stairs chuffed with my self, did something that just makes me angry thinking about it, noobish and terrible human error, completly lost me footing going down the stairs and twisted my ankle really wrecking it, masive swelling.

Scott led me back to the train station since i didnt know the quickest way there, which wouldnt be great for my ankle, said my goodbyes and hobbled to the train station and got home just fine.

All today iv been reflecting on everything, watching yamakasi videos, just thinking about how good i want to get, it was odd after yesterday i felt my fire was kind of going out, but today i conditioned a whole lot and im dying to get out feeling great.

For the next two weeks im just gonna condition like a mother bitch and slowly work back into parkour training, it really does feel like a new begining like my lifes been refreshed and im looking forward to the future.

"just jump"

Went to wakefeild and horbury wednesday which were both great, but also yet again highlighted my fear of standing jumps at height, at the start of the day in wakey i did a bigish precision, more of another learning cerb really, finding howmuch extra distance you can get when the object you jump to is slightly lower than the one you take off from, horbury i was happy with a catpass precision i did, about 7 steps, to be honest though i felt/feel i can get alot further with them, the catpass im aiming towards is the big one at the odeon in sheffield iv never actually had a look at exept for in videos, so im putting into acount it will be alot bigger when i come to it, as is usal with most things.

we went to a few other spots throughout the day in horbury, my favourite place was definitally "the tree" a fallen over a tree which seemed as though it was put there for parkour, which had alsorts of parts to it you could use different techniques on.

Wakefeild was ace, fulll of cool spots, not much to talk about though really apart from what i said at the beginning, it highlighted my fear of standing jumps at height.

Just a quick review of my thoughts lately on how i get over certain jumps, arm jumps with not much height or rail precisions a voice in my head says "just jump, it will be fine there's no real way you can hurt yourself" or with things like catpasses it what comes into my head is "i can make it i know physically i can make it, so why not just do it".

I hope to get out for some good training at tapton tomorrow since i everythings abit much at the mo and i need to relax and let off some steam, and i have some fears to get over while im there to. : )

Alex.
