Stealth God

Im very bored, i fancy writing up some stuff.
After feeling abit depressed lately, like i dont have the guts i used to, for example i had level arm jumps back in easter and now i dont. But after looking back at old footage back from easter also, i noticed my abilitys are so much more full circle its just my arm jumps are dragging me down every time i spot a level arm jump, its only level arm jumps though i guess my standard ones are feeling prity good at the moment and far better then they ever have.

Thursday Stef came out training since his thumbs out of its cast and were back at school its easy to arange just going out at night, we also got our mate Joss to come out training whos come out twice before and is showing real promise he actually reminds me alot of Blane the way he moves and his build, i just question his dedication is all if he will actually start training parkour and come out often.

I was quite happy with this session, i hadnt gone out properly for like a week and a couple of days as i mashed up my heel abit at the art gallerys.
This was a very nice session, i did alot of responsible teaching, making Stefan and Joss do lots of repitition and very basic fundamentals, i did some nice speedy wall scales, quite big precisions on these stumps in a play park, a noticeable difference that my lil standing jump its getting bigger. I came to a level roof gap that i turned down over a month ago, about 13 steps onto a sort of platform with just enough room to stop and not go off of the edge (this is sounding worse than it is, mite make a video of the footage iv gathered lately with this gap included) it took me about ten or fifteen minutes to get the guts to do it, i think this is quite and acheivement for me as you all know, im apauling with anything height related.

Friday i did a little barefoot training for like an hour or so just up the road, i had a good fun relaxed session in my shorts, landing 360 cats easy and unique creative movements that just came naturally, fast climb ups, i just felt so instinctive all my hard work of night training, barefoot traing and peak district stuff seemed to have payed off. I did some shoulder and bicep based conditioning that night aswell.

Saturday i was ment to be going to notingham but i did wank in my science exam so that went out of that window. It was about three and i realised i was doing nothing so i just stuck my joggers on and went up to notredame and did nice relaxed neat movements, eyed up an arm jump which iv had as a challenge for a little bit now, but left it as i wasnt warmed up properly yet. I heard someone coming round the corner, it was a guy with a leaf blower (you get kicked off instantally when you get seen on the site) i grabbed my stuff and dropped to the floor and didnt get spotted, i moved round the corner of the other part of the school with little to train, but i thought to myself there is always something to do in any enviroment and continued training untill i heard a leaf blower again, i moved round silently (made harder by having to hold a water bottle) checking round walls and noticed there was two of them i remembered Liam had mentioned him and McGuire were coming to tapton today so i set my self the challenge to not get spotted by eather of the guys with leaf blowers so i waited to the one by the gate to start making a raket with his leaf blower again and bombed it round a cornet, scaled over wall and got out unseen, very nice feeling.

While i was in this mood i thought id try and sneak up on Luke and Liam i had a bit of trouble with this as taptons been locked up prity tight now so it was hard to get into silently and over all the broken glass, i heard them talking and trecked round a building then inside of it, got onto the roof after looking out of the window waiting for Luke to turn round got up to the roof sneaked around till i was as close as i could get then just sprinted up on them and met two other guys they were with, trained round tapton for like half an hour untill Liams friend Brandon was to ill to stick around any longer, we trained around notredame a little on the way back were i looked at that big arm jump, i think i mite of been able to do it, but Liams friend was looking really ill at this stage so we set off again.

Ohhh and just thought id mention, on quite a thick peice of wood like part of a shellter i managed to muscle up fairly easy when last time i couldnt even at full strength and this time id been training two days before and done loads of pull ups the night before.

Barefoot night training. Stronger-Smarter.

I just had such a random training session, after my dad didnt wake me up to go out bouldering with him and my brother it ment i wasnt going to do any training today which kinda bummed me out.

But it got to about eight, and i had nothing to do so i thought id nip down to the boulder five minutes from me, just grabbed two bannas a bottle of water, my camera and no shoes. I trained doing a bunch of dyno's/plyometrics and problems and realised how much stronger i am since i trained on it with Scott, Tee, Alistair and Jamie.

After this i wondered up to the Salvation army at 9 and by this point i was just in my baggy shorts and trained some basics on a wall at the Salvation army like pop vaults, lazys with the outside leg, kind of speed dash's (to big to dash to speed vault it and finish in a dash)

Then started training interesting new movements thinking of Brad Moss's videos, then some quick wall scaling (not small enough to pop vault but not to big to have to really sprint at) trying not to scare off a cat that was looking at me from the top of a wall, but it boomed off the second i i jogged up to the wall. I got home, i managed to grab abit of footage while i was out the funky night mode, but i cant upload it to the computer untill wednesday till i get the firewire cable.

Shortly after ariving home i did 10 pylo pressups, 10 regular, 10 wide apart and 10 close grip. followed by 10 pull ups, 10 wide grip and 10 close grip then 50 grams in my protein shake, a bannana and a pear.

Short Lisses write up.

Godddd were to begin...Lisses was mad, must have got in a good 50 hours of training in while i was there. I learnt so much its unreal, i met up with a bunch of awsome polish guys who have been training 3 or so years, theyv done snickers adverts and run workshops over there.
A good 10 things they helped me do that i would have turned down without there advice and support, they were all great guys, sooo funny with absulutly mad abilitys.

I met up with Stuart, Sean, Brownie and Ant who were all really cool guys.
I was perticulaly impressed with Stuart, i didnt actually realise how good he was untill i trained with him in Lisses, he's just such a good all round traceur, id say he's really inspired me but thats a bit of a cliche now saying someone inspires you, i learnt alot from just watching him train he's really given me alot of ideas of ways to train and has helped to "inspire" me to train harder...

Im so glad i got back into the habit of just being able to do well, jumps. For about a month my legs seemed to just freeze up if i was trying a big jump (anything with a slight element of height) and id just wuss out, but now if got the right state of mind back that i can tap into so all is good.

"Lets do it"

After a night of pissing about at Stefans while his parents are away, got myself up at 10 so i could revise at home. Finished all that off, got ready to head back up to my mates with Yamakasi which had come in the post that morning! happy!

Got there and gave him a hand with the washing up after i felt bad for bailing on him so early in the morning and not helping tidy up. Watched the fim, watched some pk vids on youtube.

We started talking about when we should get out training, especially since i havent been able to with my ankle. I looked out of the window, we both noticed it wasnt pissing it down like the weather had said. We checked the sheffield weather, its said it was crap, then 24 hour forecast and it said it wasnt going to rain for the rest of the day, we both looked at each other
"should we?" "emm yeh..." "lets do it".

We got back to mine sharpish so i could grab my trousers and shoes, very very little drizzle on the way to mine and to the bus stop, after about a 15 minute wait at the bus stop, as i guessed i was asked for full fair, didnt really bother me since i was sooo happy and eager to be out training.

Got off the the bus, stopped at a little spot just before getting to the library (a place iv wanted to check out for a while now, iv only been there once training and that was after my first week or so of being into parkour) did some small precisions, flow and a warm up kind of catpass onto a step which i was quite happy to do easily on my first try.

Finallyy heading up to the library, a minute walk from the little place we were warming up on.
I did some kongs and just general basics, found the precision id looked at the first time id been here and turned it down without a doubt, this time looked at it for ten seconds and did it with ease, i worked on some stuff that Stef was struggling with, a precision down to a wall, not very big but with a little bit off a drop, i understand exactly why he was scared since it mirrors on the kind of stuff im scared of now but just on a larger scale. He left it for abit while we trained a little more in the area, i did a catpass to wall i was quite happy with, not very big, but with a bit of a drop in between the take off and landing, something iv not yet done before from a catpass.

I drilled that about 5 times and then connected the precison i mentioned earlyer on to it, making quite a nice bit of flow and movment, after that Stef staired at the precision he wanted to do and soon did it and he realised the thing we all learn after many jumps, that was easy.

We trecked upto Silverdale school which was wank, we scaled over the fence, and wandered around the area finding didly squat, the only bit of potential rooftop activity i found there was a small roof gap that had a wire in the way of were you would be jumping and water on the landing.

We soon left the school and headed up to our own school, High Storrs.
This place is the BOMB to train at, so much stuff there great walls to scale, rails precisons, lachi's, imense rootops to explore, all sorts of vaults you can practice, realllly nice place.
I felt something great while i was wandering around the roofs, i looked into my class rooms and felt so much freedom, the place that normally imprison's me, was proving a to be great fun for me to train my way of life.

We both moved over to the other side of school, bein able to use parkour to get ourselfs there :P
Did some precisions, practiced rolls, mucked about up a tree, And the final thing we came to was a set of walls i sped up it happily and wandered round the roofs on this side of the school while Stefan spoke on the phone, i came back round and practiced turn vault techniques on something thats flat (hard to explain) going down into a kind of press up position, spining your body round so your hanging, tucking your knees in then dropping, stef got up the wall on his 4th or 5th try which he did using his elbow for the climb up, i got him to get back down and try again even though he was prity exagusted as was I, he managed to do it with a nice climb up, a turn vault with the technique id just used.

We headed home both happy with our selfs, i was actually quite proud of what Stefan had acheived today and what i had. I had loaddds of noodles when i got back and a couple of spring rolls, along with a protein shake and another glass of milk after that, chilled out for abit, went to bed and got 14 hours sleep, brilliant.

All today i was bloody revising, at the end of it all, i watched the yamakasi documentary and decided id go on a walk and check out some spots i want to go to when its not wet through, stuck a coat on and put my head phones in went out for about 15 minutes just checking a spot out and that was about it really a nice relaxing way to spend my sunday i guess, and thats about it for this update.

cheers.

A new perspective.

Leeds jam yesterday sure was an interesting one...
when i got up in the morning i wasnt thinking about parkour, or going to leeds in perticular.
It was more just routine, knowing what i was doing without thinking about it.

I got to leeds with no problems, did the usall things i do to warm up at the Art Gallerys, quick climb ups, vaults, just the basics really.

The others got here, pete first, were i did the precision to the windowsill with ease, something i couldnt do for a while at my first 5 jams or so, next was scott were we just spoke abit then Tee Pee, Liam, Guy, Brad, pedro. I mucked about abit repeating stuff id done at previous jams around the art gallerys, then i came to the thing iv wanted to do for a while when i was properly warmed up and been training towards, the precision to the red rail. I stood there for a good ten/fifteen minutes, with abit of a crowd gathered.

Untill we all got moved on by security (i swear it said parking attendant on his jacket) im not sure if i would have done that rail precision even if we hadnt been moved, all the same this didnt stop it from pissing me off though getting shifted. I find that since id been a fighter for so long, i treat jumps like fighting, so it feels iv lost when i leave a jump or fail at something.

Any way we moved to the church were i started to build up the rail precision distance going up one step at a time, got to second from top when we got moved on yet again.

When we got to the police station i was feeling crap, i wasnt in the mood, a complete off day, through out the day we moved to spots i felt awfull, but the day did progress a little bit and the odd thing i did cheered me up a little, the amouries were great actually, we had a great game of tig, the first one in ages, i did the tic tac arm jump there and scaled the wall in the main section of the amouries, things iv already done in the past, but this time i did them easyer and with ALOT better technique.

We moved round to the other side of the armouries after guy and brad had a big endever weather to get a juggling ball out of the river or not.

I scaled a big wall on the other side of the armouries after a few go's, and as a was walking down the stairs chuffed with my self, did something that just makes me angry thinking about it, noobish and terrible human error, completly lost me footing going down the stairs and twisted my ankle really wrecking it, masive swelling.

Scott led me back to the train station since i didnt know the quickest way there, which wouldnt be great for my ankle, said my goodbyes and hobbled to the train station and got home just fine.

All today iv been reflecting on everything, watching yamakasi videos, just thinking about how good i want to get, it was odd after yesterday i felt my fire was kind of going out, but today i conditioned a whole lot and im dying to get out feeling great.

For the next two weeks im just gonna condition like a mother bitch and slowly work back into parkour training, it really does feel like a new begining like my lifes been refreshed and im looking forward to the future.

"just jump"

Went to wakefeild and horbury wednesday which were both great, but also yet again highlighted my fear of standing jumps at height, at the start of the day in wakey i did a bigish precision, more of another learning cerb really, finding howmuch extra distance you can get when the object you jump to is slightly lower than the one you take off from, horbury i was happy with a catpass precision i did, about 7 steps, to be honest though i felt/feel i can get alot further with them, the catpass im aiming towards is the big one at the odeon in sheffield iv never actually had a look at exept for in videos, so im putting into acount it will be alot bigger when i come to it, as is usal with most things.

we went to a few other spots throughout the day in horbury, my favourite place was definitally "the tree" a fallen over a tree which seemed as though it was put there for parkour, which had alsorts of parts to it you could use different techniques on.

Wakefeild was ace, fulll of cool spots, not much to talk about though really apart from what i said at the beginning, it highlighted my fear of standing jumps at height.

Just a quick review of my thoughts lately on how i get over certain jumps, arm jumps with not much height or rail precisions a voice in my head says "just jump, it will be fine there's no real way you can hurt yourself" or with things like catpasses it what comes into my head is "i can make it i know physically i can make it, so why not just do it".

I hope to get out for some good training at tapton tomorrow since i everythings abit much at the mo and i need to relax and let off some steam, and i have some fears to get over while im there to. : )

Alex.
